Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of over 85 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. CBD is non-psychoactive and present in more significant quantities in hemp than it is in marijuana. Research shows significant potential of CBD possessing incredible health benefits.

(CBD vs. THC) – THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD are the two most prominent cannabinoids derived from the cannabis plant, however they differ in many ways. THC and CBD both interact with the body through the endocannabinoid system but elicit different natural effects. One of the main differences is that THC is psychoactive, and CBD is not. CBD has the same chemical formula as THC, but the atoms are arranged differently. This slight variance causes THC to create a psychoactive effect, while CBD lacks such an influence. Although from the same plant genus, Cannabis, THC and CBD dominate different species, specifically marijuana and hemp, respectively. Marijuana and THC are specifically listed in the U.S. Controlled Substances Act and, therefore, are prohibited under federal law, while CBD is legal in all 50 states, given it is derived from high-CBD, low-THC hemp and not extracted from marijuana.

(CBD oil vs. Hemp oil) – The main difference between CBD oil and Hemp oil is that Hemp oil does not contain CBD. CBD and Hemp oils are made from different parts of the plant and have different purposes. CBD is a compound found in industrial hemp, and we utilize a whole plant CO2 extraction that allows us to draw the CBD from the plant material and filter out unnatural substances, maximizing pure CBD concentration. While CBD is extracted from the entire plant, minus the seeds, hemp is extracted only from the seeds. Hemp oil is made from pressing hemp seeds and is used in a variety of products. Hemp-seed oil is used as a protein supplement for food and, because of its remedial properties for hair and skin, as an ingredient in lotion and soap products as well as stand-alone dermal products.

It depends on the testing standards of the lab administering your drug test. Most companies only search for the cannabinoid THC, which is the main psychoactive component of the marijuana plant. While ClearView-Thrive CBD products are THC free, there are some testing facilities that check for a spectrum of cannabinoids and could trigger a positive drug test. By law, you are allowed to ask the facility for which cannabinoids they test. If you are uncomfortable with that, you can call and ask anonymously. We suggest contacting the testing facility if there is any concern.

The cannabinoid spectrum range contained within a product is what determines whether the product is full spectrum, broad spectrum, or CBD isolate. When a CBD product is created, the cannabinoid content is extracted from the Cannabis plant, where other compounds found within the plant are also extracted, including terpenes, flavonoids, and other cannabinoids.

An isolate is the purest form of a compound, produced by singularly extracting that compound from its environment and isolating it from all other compounds. That being said, CBD isolate is the purest form of CBD.

Full spectrum CBD is an extract that contains all compounds found naturally occurring in the plant, including terpenes, essential oils, and other cannabinoids. And broad spectrum CBD is a bit of a mix between full spectrum CBD and CBD isolate. Similar to full spectrum, the other compounds found within the plant are preserved in the extract of broad spectrum CBD; however, like CBD isolate, THC is completely removed.

The endocannabinoid system, discovered in the 20th century, is a vital signaling system responsible for regulating a wide array of functions, including pain, appetite, mood, memory, immune response, and sleep. This biological system is composed of endocannabinoids, receptors in the nervous system and around your body that endocannabinoids and cannabinoids bond with, and enzymes that help break down endocannabinoids and cannabinoids.

There are two cannabinoid receptors – CB1 and CB2 that are located on cells throughout the body: CB1 receptors are primarily located on nerve cells in the brain, spinal cord and central nervous system. They are very abundant in the cerebellum, basal ganglia, and hippocampus. The CB1 receptors have been found to play a role in memory processing, motor regulation, pain sensation, mood, and sleep. CB2 receptors are primarily found on cells in the immune system and its associated structures. When activated, they stimulate a response that fights inflammation, which can reduce pain and minimize damage to tissues. Cannabinoids help coordinate and regulate how we feel and think by binding with the endocannabinoid system’s CB1 and CB2 receptors. Fitting like puzzle pieces, cannabinoids are designed to link together with the cannabinoid receptors. This linking activates the receiving neuron into action, triggering a set of events to pass along the message and carry out a variety of cellular responses needed for homeostasis and healthy functioning.
